Step 1.

HYDRATE HYRDATE HYRDATE – Drinking water is the easiest tip from us. It improves your complexion by moisturising your skin, keeping it fresh, soft, glowing and smooth as well as getting rid of wrinkles. It also flushes out toxins from your body, promotes weight loss (WooHoo!) and increases energy and relieves fatigue!

Step 2.

See a skin specialist – We recommend you book in to see beauty therapist, so they can recommend the perfect treatment for your skin type and also check if your daily routine is suitable for you. Whether it be facials, microdermabrasion or chemical peels. Make sure you see a therapist at least 6 months before your wedding day and not the week of as last minute appointments can shock the skin and you could end up with spots on your day!

Step 3.

Clean Your Makeup Brushes – As makeup artists it is built into our brains to have clean makeup brushes between each and every client, but a British study found that 72% of women never wash their brushes or sponges…ew! Dirt and bacteria will cause break outs so we recommend you clean any powder brushes every month and foundation, concealer brushes and the loved beauty sponge once a week. Mix a couple of drops of gentle facial cleanser or shampoo and lukewarm water in a cup, swish your brushes around, rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry, and lay flat to air dry – easy! A few other tips in the hygiene topic include cleaning your smartphone regularly and keep your hands away from your face.

Step 4.

Get that Beauty Sleep – Here is your excuse to become a nanna, get in your pjs, pour yourself a cup of tea and get into bed early! Getting at least 7 hours of sleep every night will help with circulation to stop you for looking pale and washed out.

Step 5.

Wedding Day – On your wedding day make sure you wake up have a shower (not to hot) and do your daily facial routine. Once we arrive and start your makeup we may remove your moisturiser as this could shorten the life of your wedding makeup. We will prime your skin with products to ensure it stays well hydrated with products we have tried and tested many times. The makeup that we use on the day may seem heavy at the start, but it will soften and blend with your skin over the next hour.

Some products we love to keep you glowing include Curtis Collection “Hydra Primer Radiance Booster”, Charlotte Tilury “Mini Miracle Eye Wand” BECCA “ Light Chaser Highlighter” and MAC “Prep + Prime Fix Spray” (coconut is delish!). To keep your makeup as is we only recommend you have some blotting papers (Priceline have a pack of 50 for $7) and your lipstick/lipgloss for touch ups. No additional powder is recommended as we have used a setting powder already any additional power can make you look cakey and powdery.

We love weddings so contact us today to book in for a wedding makeup trial in our Newstead Studio. With all the above and our magic wands you will be looking your absolute best on your special day! (P.S We also offer amazing wedding hair stylists!)
